Vatican City, the Sistine Chapel & S. Peter’s Basilica
The Vatican is the smallest state in the world, however it is worth a trip to Rome only to see Michelangelo’s masterpiece: the Sistine Chapel frescoes, which is inside the Vatican Museums, where one can also admire the Stanze di Raffaello (Raphael’s rooms). We will also step inside the world largest church: Saint Peter’s Basilica, then we will cross St Peter’s Square, created by the genius of Bernini a century after Michelangelo made the Cupola (dome). 

After a light lunch our tour can continue by visiting Castel Sant’Angelo and Borgo Pio.

- Breakfast and Sistine Chapel

It is a pleasure for me to have a early bird breakfast with you and explain you the Sistine Chapel before entering the Museum. Comfortably sitted in a elegant place around the corner, with the use of Photos, Books and iPad, in front of a nice cappuccino and orange juce, without the mass of tourists around us I will give you all the tools to understand Michelangelo and his time, without suffering standing up in the big crowd. We will then enter the museum among the first and go to see the Chapel before the others ;-)

- Night Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel

An extraordinary opportunity to visit the Vatican Museums after sunset.
Every Friday from Aprile 24th to July 31st and from September 4th to October 30th, the Museums will be open to visitors from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm (last entrance at 9:30 pm).
Visitors will be able to admire important collections, following an itinerary that includes the Pio-Clementine Museum, the Egyptian Museum, the Upper Galleries (Candelabra, Tapestries and Maps), the Raphael's Rooms, the Borgia Apartment, the Collection of Modern Religious Art, the Sistine Chapel.

Walking tour through the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum, once the heart of the republic, where trades were held as well as religious life and justice. You will discover the wonders of ancient Rome and recall the reign of Caesar, admiring the fragments of Rome’s glorious past. Then you will understand Augustus words: “I found Rome a city of bricks, and left it a city of marble”. We will see the mighty Colosseum, where gladiators once fought for their lives in front of thousands of cheering Romans.
Starting from the Campidoglio (City hall), I will show you with enthusiasem the Roman Forum, the Palatine hill, the Circo Massimo, the Colosseum, the Triumphal arch of Constantine. 

It will be possible also to continue the visit with San Clemente church and the Domus Aurea.

Trastevere boasts also many pizzerias and typical restaurants called Trattoria.discover an special portion of the city: we will visit the Jewish area, where one of the oldest European Jewish communities is settled. Here the ancient Portico d’Ottavia, witnesses the great past of the area, and the imposing Synagogue, set up in 1904 hosts a Jewish life's museum. The Jewish ghetto history doesn't start with the arrival of the nazi troops in 1944 but far before, intact the first jewish community was settle in rome in the second century B.C! The creation of the walls around a ghetto dates back the 16th century…. This is the story I will recall…

This tour refers to the Popes great works of enlargement and rebuilding of the city during the XVI and the XVII century. This was the part of the city dedicated to the Ancient Roman soldiers and the God of the war: Mars. Rome owns more than 600 churches! and most of them have  remote origins and immense spiritual and artistic value, architectural and spiritual greatness – all erected thanks to the faith and commitment of Rome’s Christian  Popes who wished to preserve the memory of  Martyrs and Apostles  bat also thanks to the work of greatest artists of the time….

We will see in a walk throughout the city some of the most interesting cathedrals such as Santa Maria MaggioreSanta Prassede, with it’s gorgeous mosaics, San Pietro in Vincoli (St. Peter's in Chains) to admire the marble statue of Moses by Michelangelo, then the three leveled church of San Clemente and Santi Quattro Coronati and its beautiful cloister. The tour can be extended to San Giovanni in Laternao (St. John in Lateran), with the Baptistery and the Sancta Sanctorum.

15. DAY OUTSIDE ROME - TIVOLI

Tivoli is located 20 miles east of Rome, visit first the emperor Hadrian’s Villa (134 a.d.), and Villa D’Este (1550). 
Hadrian had a special passion for architecture and his three-hundred hectares original Villa in the Roman countryside is a reproduction of exotic monuments. Here the emperor used to rest, think and write.
Fifteen centuries later the cardinal D'Este was elected Governor of Tivoli and accustomed as he was to luxury, he was unable to live in the bare governor's palace. So he called the finest artists of the time and commissioned magnificent gardens with fountains creating his own little Versailles…
